Bound Book Printing
What is Perfect Bound Book Printing?
There are many types of bindings for books including hardcover, staple, and sewn. Probably the most common form of book binding is perfect bound binding. That's our specialty. If you have a paperback book or magazine in your home, chances are it was produced using perfect binding. Select the book from your library shelf. Look at the spine; perfect bound books usually have flat spines. Look at the very top and bottom of that spine, you’ll likely see traces of adhesive. Unseen is the adhesive that runs along the inside covers of your book which binds all of the pages and the cover together. Once trimmed on three sides, this book is said to be perfect bound.
Perfect binding is a durable solution for books with low page or high page counts. We often bind large page count books. These are usually technical manuals and training guides. More frequently, we use our state-of-the-art equipment to bind children's books. These books often run from 12 to 32 pages. In the past, stapling would have been the only option for binding these books. Now, perfect binding provides a professional and appealing binding option.
The most common sizes for perfect bound books are 5-1/2” by 8-1/2”, 6” by 9, and 8-1/2” by 11”. However, perfect bound books may be printed and bound in smaller or larger sizes. In addition to being durable, perfect binding is also cost effective. It’s a popular method that ensures your book will have a tight, secure bonding; one that is designed to serve you for many years.
